“When an ICE or CBP agent kills or injures someone in our community, transparency needs to be the bare minimum,” said Rep. Salinas. “Since the start of the second Trump Administration, the federal government has often refused to provide local law enforcement with critical evidence in shootings and other use-of-force incidents involving ICE and CBP officers. My bill would ensure that when these incidents occur, state and local law enforcement agencies would have unrestricted access to this evidence to deliver full justice to victims and their families.”
Require DHS and the Attorney General to share evidence and provide state and local law enforcement access to incident locations in ICE and CBP officer-involved shootings and other use-of-force incidents that injure or kill someone.

Assessments
The verified commitment promised an outcome: the bill would ensure state and local law enforcement have unrestricted evidence/access after ICE or CBP use-of-force incidents. The only verified outcome evidence shows H.R.10698 was referred to House committees, not passed or enacted. Introduction/referral is documented effort, but it does not fulfill the promised outcome, and no deadline has expired as of 2026-10-07.
