Pass election laws that require identification, make voting easier, make cheating harder, and shift power to local and state levels.
Occurrences
We must pass election laws that make it easier to vote, and harder to cheat, and that push power down to the local and state levels.
Evidence
Today, Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10) voted in favor of the House amendment to S. 1383, legislation known as the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act), which strengthens federal election safeguards by requiring documentary proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections. Following House passage, the House amendment to S. 1383 now returns to the Senate for further consideration before any final legislation can be sent to the President.
Passed the House of Representatives April 10, 2025. Nothing in this Act ... may be construed to affect the exemption of a State from any requirement of any Federal law other than the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 ... This Act and the amendments made by this Act shall take effect on the date of the enactment of this Act.
Assessments
Harrigan materially supported the SAVE Act by voting for House passage in his current federal term, and the bill aligns with the identification and election-integrity parts of the promise. But the evidence says the measure still required Senate action and enactment before becoming law, so the promised election-law changes were not actually passed into law. This counts as a serious legislative attempt, not delivery.
