I am both excited and eager to begin working for stronger law enforcement, a secure border, safer communities and a prosperous future for North Carolina and the United States
We must secure the border, finish the wall, and enforce the law. Those who break our immigration laws must face real consequences as a deterrence or the flood will never end. An illegal immigrant who commits a felony should be sent to prison for a minimum of five years and then deported.
We must continue to enforce immigration laws, in part, with mass deportations.

“I believe when an illegal immigrant commits a felony, they should be sent to prison for a minimum of five years and then deported. We have to increase penalties to deter the flood of illegal immigrants.”

Assessments
Knott made concrete same-term legislative efforts aligned with the promise, including sponsoring H.R.3242 to increase penalties for unlawfully present immigrants convicted of crimes and supporting House passage of H.R.3486. However, the evidence shows these measures had not become law by the assessment date; H.R.3242 was only referred to committee and H.R.3486 had only passed the House and was received in the Senate. Because the promised outcome was to strengthen the laws, not merely introduce or support legislation, this is a serious attempt without final delivery.
Knott made concrete same-term legislative efforts aligned with the promise, including sponsoring H.R.3242 to increase penalties for unlawfully present immigrants convicted of crimes and supporting H.R.3486, which passed the House. However, the evidence does not show final enactment of those measures or a completed strengthening of federal law by the assessment date. Under the rule for serious attempts that fail to deliver the promised outcome, this is classified as never with an effort badge.
