Occurrences

Evidence
Senator Tom Cotton introduced the Deportation Acceleration Act, which would make any noncitizen convicted of a felony or two misdemeanors automatically deportable. The bill also proposes an expedited removal process and shortens the appeal window from 180 days to 30 days.
Senator Tom Cotton co-sponsored the Fraud Accountability Act, which explicitly adds fraud as a deportable offense under the Immigration and Nationality Act. The bill also allows for the denaturalization of naturalized citizens convicted of fraud.
Assessments
Senator Tom Cotton introduced and co-sponsored relevant legislation providing for expedited deportation of noncitizens convicted of fraud, directly addressing his promise. However, there is no evidence these bills became law or that the promised policy outcome was delivered. Thus, despite a serious legislative attempt, the promise was not fulfilled.
