Sponsor: Rep. Ezell, Mike [R-MS-4] (Introduced 09/26/2025). Latest Action: House - 09/26/2025 Referred to the House Committee on Financial Services. Tracker: this bill has the status Introduced.
Ezell announced he will be reinstituting the Bipartisan Flood Resilience Caucus for the 119th Congress and said the caucus will use proactive strategies and policy tools to protect residents. The release also says he and other members sent a letter urging immediate action on long-term reauthorization of NFIP.
FEMA says it maintains and updates flood maps and that updates are a collaboration between communities and FEMA. The page explains that flood maps help communities understand flood risk and that FEMA provides the official Flood Map Service Center.
Assessments
Ezell took serious same-term action on flood insurance issues by introducing NFIP-related bills and restarting the Bipartisan Flood Resilience Caucus, but the cited bills remained only introduced and referred to committee, and the evidence does not show enacted reforms or Mississippi floodplain map implementation attributable to him. Because the promised implementation outcome was not delivered despite meaningful legislative and advocacy effort, this is best classified as never with an effort badge.
