Assessments
Self has taken same-term pro-life actions, including voting for related measures and sponsoring H.R.895 to strengthen enforcement of the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act. However, the bill remains only introduced and referred to the House Judiciary Committee, and the broader promised outcome of ending abortion procedures and protecting unborn rights has not been enacted federally. This supports serious effort but not delivery.
The promise was framed as an effort commitment: to work to end abortion procedures and protect unborn rights. The evidence shows same-term activity consistent with that commitment, including votes for pro-life related measures and introduction of H.R.895 to strengthen enforcement of the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act. These actions did not end abortion procedures broadly or become enacted law, but they do fulfill the narrower promise to work toward that policy goal.
