“Let’s fix our power grid and create a sustainable world for all.”
Sponsor: Rep. Casar, Greg [D-TX-35] (Introduced 02/14/2024) ... Latest Action: House - 02/16/2024 Referred to the Subcommittee on Energy, Climate and Grid Security.
The Connect the Grid Act is a bill first introduced by Congressman Greg Casar (D-Texas) during the 118th Congress. It would connect the Texas electric grid to the surrounding national grids, improving reliability, saving money, and helping combat the climate crisis.
I’m a proud co-sponsor of the Green New Deal and similar legislation to create good union jobs in clean energy and protect communities harmed by pollution and natural disasters.
Assessments
Casar made an explicit campaign promise to fix the power grid and advance sustainability. He took serious legislative action in the same term, including introducing the Connect the Grid Act and supporting climate-related legislation, but the cited bill stalled in committee and there is no evidence that the promised outcome was enacted or achieved. Under the rule for serious but unsuccessful attempts, this is classified as never with an effort badge.
