Through this subcommittee, we’ll promote transparency, accountability, and pro-growth policies that benefit American families, businesses, and investors.
Through the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, we will promote transparency, accountability, and pro-growth policies that benefit American families, businesses, and investors.
Occurrences
We will continue delivering for small businesses by increasing transparency, promoting pro-growth policies, and streamlining communication to allow Main Street America to thrive.
We will continue to root out waste, fraud, and abuse across federal programs and bring real accountability. I am pleased to help lead that effort in Congress through my work as Chair of the FSC's Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee.
Evidence
119th Congress subcommittee roster lists Dan Meuser, Pennsylvania, as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.
Meuser said the subcommittee would provide essential oversight, root out regulations and policies that stifled growth, and be committed to ensuring transparency and accountability across the financial sector.
The committee said the subcommittee, led by Chairman Dan Meuser, held a hearing titled "Decades of Dysfunction: Restoring Accountability at HUD" and that members underscored the need for congressional oversight to ensure transparency, accountability, and operational effectiveness.
Meuser said the hearing examined waste, fraud, and mismanagement at HUD and described the agency as wasting taxpayer funds while failing to meet basic responsibilities.
The House passed H.R. 1804, the 7(a) Loan Agent Oversight Act, introduced by Meuser, to strengthen accountability and combat fraud by requiring annual reporting to Congress on loan agent activity.
After a subcommittee hearing on restoring trust and transparency in public housing agencies, Meuser and other chairmen sent a letter to HUD seeking detailed information on inspection practices, enforcement actions, and efforts to ensure taxpayer funds are not subsidizing unsafe housing.
Assessments
Meuser did use the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee in the same congressional term to pursue transparency and accountability: he chaired the subcommittee, held oversight hearings on HUD accountability, joined follow-up oversight letters to HUD, and advanced H.R. 1804 on SBA loan-agent oversight through House passage. However, the promise was broad and included pro-growth policies benefiting families, businesses, and investors; the evidence mainly shows oversight and transparency activity rather than full delivery of the broader policy outcomes. This supports partial fulfillment rather than complete delivery.
