Cut down on sanctuary sheriffs and ensure illegal aliens are deported for a safer South Carolina.
Occurrences
End ALL Sanctuary Loopholes; Work with DHS and ICE to provide facilities to house illegals for deportation; Defund any elected official or agency or department who does not work with ICE; Deputize state and local law enforcement to assist in deportation; BAN Sanctuary Policies in South Carolina for good.
Evidence
Under the immigration issue blurb, the campaign states: "Nancy Mace will cut down on sanctuary sheriffs and ensure illegal aliens are deported for a safer SC."
The House Oversight Committee release says Chairwoman Nancy Mace and Rep. Glenn Grothman were investigating local law enforcement, including Charleston County Sheriff Kristin Graziano, for refusing to cooperate with ICE when illegal aliens were booked in county jails, and that they sought documents about cases of the sheriff's office refusing to turn over custody prior to release.
The campaign says Mace proposed the South Carolina Immigration Enforcement Act to impose penalties on sheriffs and jail administrators who refuse to honor federal immigration detainer requests, including removal from office, and to hold sanctuary sheriffs accountable.
The South Carolina Legislature records S. 735 as introduced on January 13, 2026 and still residing in the Senate. The bill would create the "Prohibition of Sanctuary Jurisdictions Act" and provide that an illegal alien detained by state or local law enforcement "must not be released into the community, but must be held" until transferred to ICE.
Assessments
The evidence shows Nancy Mace made concrete efforts toward the promise, including investigating Charleston County Sheriff Kristin Graziano over alleged ICE non-cooperation and proposing immigration enforcement legislation targeting sanctuary sheriffs. A related South Carolina bill was introduced in January 2026, but the record shows it remained pending and had not become law. There is no evidence that sanctuary sheriffs were actually curtailed or that the promised deportation policy was implemented, so the promised outcome was not delivered despite serious effort.
