DelBene’s April 30 press release says she voted against the Republican farm bill and argued it would worsen conditions for farmers and families by cutting food assistance while farmers face higher costs and shrinking markets.

DelBene can reasonably get full credit here because the promise was broad and centered on federal agriculture and rural policy, and she materially advanced a major enactment in that area while in office. After entering the House in November 2012, she served as a House conferee on the 2013-2014 farm bill negotiations, and the Agricultural Act of 2014 was enacted on February 7, 2014. That law reauthorized and revised core federal agriculture, rural development, farm credit, conservation, and nutrition programs, which fits the promise to enact programs for agricultural and rural communities. Under the federal-office credit rule, being a conference committee member on the bill that became law is stronger than routine support and is enough to treat the outcome as delivered. The later 2026 evidence shows continued involvement on farm policy but does not change the fact that a qualifying delivery already occurred during her term.
