End the filibuster , a tool championed by segregationist Senators to oppose civil rights legislation, that continues to stand in the way of progress today.
End the filibuster.
Occurrences
Evidence
The campaign issues page says, under Democracy and Voting Rights, that 'we must end the filibuster' and lists it as a fight Summer Lee is pursuing.
Her congressional issues page repeats that 'we must end the filibuster' because it stands in the way of progress, but it does not show the filibuster has been eliminated or changed.
The same campaign page says she has cosponsored more than 20 bills on democracy and voting rights, including the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2023 and the Freedom to Vote Act.
Assessments
Summer Lee explicitly promised to end the filibuster, and the evidence shows she continued advocating for that goal and cosponsored related democracy and voting-rights legislation. However, the Senate filibuster has not been ended, and as a House member she did not deliver the promised institutional change. Because there was concrete related legislative effort but the promised outcome failed, this is classified as never with an effort badge.
