My priorities include standing up for pro-life values
Brett Guthrie will stand up for pro-life values.
Occurrences
Evidence
Guthrie said he was glad the FY 2027 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies appropriations bill included provisions that defend the lives of the unborn and affirmed the Trump Administration’s prohibition on taxpayer-funded abortion. The House-passed package also funded VA and military construction.
In his May 18 bulletin, Guthrie said he is 'staunchly pro-life' and will always vote to protect life. He also said he joined over 100 colleagues in signing an amicus brief urging the Supreme Court to reinstate an in-person dispensing requirement for mifepristone.
Assessments
The promise is broad and values-based rather than tied to a specific statutory outcome. In the federal House context, Guthrie fulfilled it by taking same-term pro-life actions within his office powers: publicly reaffirming a pro-life voting position, joining an amicus effort on mifepristone dispensing rules, and supporting House appropriations language he described as protecting unborn life and restricting taxpayer-funded abortion. These actions show he stood up for the stated values, even though they do not alone establish final enactment of a broader abortion-policy outcome.
