Continue investing in the renovation of the Rayburn House Office Building.
Occurrences
continues the ongoing initial investment for the critical renovation of the Rayburn House Office Building
Evidence
Austin told the House Appropriations Legislative Branch Subcommittee that the FY2027 AOC request includes the much-needed renovation of the Rayburn House Office Building and funding to further develop the design and swing-space options.
The committee recommended $153.6 million for House office buildings, said it was strongly supporting Rayburn renovation, directed AOC to provide a third proposal and a relocation plan, and stated that funds were being provided to begin investment in the Rayburn renovation.
Assessments
House appropriators and the Architect of the Capitol were actively advancing FY2027 Rayburn renovation funding and planning, including a committee recommendation of $153.6 million and directives for further proposals and relocation planning. That shows continued investment, but not completion of the renovation, so the promise is only partially fulfilled.
