explicitly prohibit the prorating of benefits to households with unverified eligibility
Chip Roy will end prorated housing assistance for mixed-status households until all household members are verified eligible.

Evidence
The current HUD regulation says an eligible mixed family requesting prorated assistance must be provided prorated assistance, and it sets proration formulas for Section 8 and public housing.
HUD proposed a rule to require proof of citizenship or eligible status for HUD housing residents and to bar mixed-status families, but the article says HUD had not said when it would take effect.
Assessments
As of late May 2026, federal housing rules still required prorated assistance for eligible mixed families, so the promised end to prorated aid had not been achieved. The February 2026 HUD proposal pointed in that direction but was still only a proposal and does not show the outcome was completed or that Chip Roy secured the change.
