I am fighting this abuse of taxpayer dollars with Congressman Beyer by introducing legislation that would clearly prohibit President Trump from using federal funds for pet projects like this one.
Block President Trump's proposed Triumphal Arch by supporting legislation to prohibit its construction and permanently bar federal funds from being used for it.
Occurrences
Evidence
Titus's House office announced that Reps. Dina Titus and Don Beyer introduced the Arlington National Cemetery Viewshed Protection Act to prohibit Trump's proposed arch and bar federal funds for it.
The bill text prohibits construction of a triumphal arch within Lady Bird Johnson Park and says no federal funds may be made available for such construction.
NCPC's staff report says Interior submitted concept plans for a 250-foot arch at Memorial Circle; remaining actions include preliminary and final site/building plan reviews.
The NCPC report states the Commission of Fine Arts approved the final architectural design on May 21, 2026, while NCPC would not take final action until NHPA and NEPA processes are completed.
NCPC's June 4 agenda lists the New Monumental Arch as an action item submitted by Interior, with the requested action being approval of comments on concept plans.
AP reported that workers began preliminary surveys and geotechnical testing at the proposed arch site, based partly on a court filing in the pending challenge.
Assessments
Titus materially advanced the promised approach by co-leading/introduction of the Arlington National Cemetery Viewshed Protection Act, which would prohibit the proposed arch and bar federal funding. But the evidence shows only bill introduction, not enactment, and federal review/site work on the arch remained active as of June 4, 2026. Because the promised outcome was to block the arch and permanently bar federal funds, that has not been delivered; the legislative effort warrants the effort badge.
